National Recreational Symbols

National Recreation Symbols were created by the Society for Environmental Graphic Design (SEGD) to provide a common, nonverbal language to transmit information to park visitors, regardless of their native language. Currently, there are 190 symbols in use at U.S. National Parks. This bulletin describes requirements for the four different types of national recreation symbols.
