New York Accessibility Symbol Laws

December 29, 2014
This bulletin gives information and resources regarding New York laws A.8193 and S.6846, which require the International Symbol of Accessibility (often called a "handicapped" symbol) to be changed to a new image showing a person in motion. Effective Nov. 25, 2014, these laws also require removal of the word "Handicapped" on signs, replacing it with "Accessible."
