Safety Tip: Crystaline Silica Protection and Silicosis Prevention

Crystalline silica is a basic component of soil, sand, granite and most other types of rock, and it is used as an abrasive blasting agent. When silica dust becomes airborne and is inhaled, it can cause Silicosis, a disabling and often fatal lung disease caused by exposure to respirable crystalline silica dust. Use these tips from NIOSH and OSHA to help limit silica exposure and prevent silicosis.
